I love cherries. I have really been diggin' cherry season. I live close to a county known for their cherry goodness. Good ole Door County, WI. Oh how I love that county. Um, yeh. I feel like I am telling the world I am in love with my Justin Bieber poster. That I don't really have......Hee hee.

One thing I am not in love with is pitting cherries. Cherry pitter. That's not a good name. It doesn't flow off my tongue like I'd like it too. I've always wanted a cherry pitter, but realize that it would sit in my cupboards for almost ten out of twelve months. Not cool at all. Thank goodness Pinterest is here to save the day. ;)

I didn't pin this idea because it was so simple that I didn't need a reference. Now I am a little sorry that I didn't. I cannot give credit to the nice little mister or misses that demonstrated this....tutorial? I guess it's a tutorial. Yes, it's a tutorial. So if you talked about a straw from your reusable coffee tumbler and it was blue. This is all YOU :)

This is so easy it's ridic. You know it's amazeballs when I bust out the teen talk. My thirty year old self wants to trip the teen in me. Nice. Anyhoo, let's get on with it.

1. Find some completely staged cherries that just happen to fall beautifully out of your hardly ever used wooden bowl onto a tablecloth that only sees the light of day when the children are nowhere to be found. Then bathe those bad boys. While they are bathing grab your handy dandy straw. Now you need to use one of those heavy duty straws that come with things like reusable coffee tumblers. If you try this with a bendy straw you will end up angry. And let me tell you something else. This is extremely messy. You might will end up with red fingers for part of the day so maybe do this when you have nothing better to do than take pits out of cherries. 

2. I'm not so good at taking pictures with cherry juice running down my arms so I skipped taking a picture of this step. Remove stems. Now take your straw and gently push it into the stem side. Give it a little wiggle. Just so it punctures the skin. Then turn it over and do the same for the tush (bottom) of the cherry. Now push that straw all the way through (tush side) while holding firmly onto the cherry. Holding onto it with a firm hand assures that the cherry will not escape. You lose less cherry 'meat' if you push through the tush side versus the stem side. If you enjoy pitting cherries and don't care if you are wasting the insides, then by all means, push it through whichever side you want. Top, bottom, left side, right side. Go nuts. If you want the most cherry for your effort push it through the bottom. See tush sounds much better :)

Sometimes I see things that make me say to myself: "I find it funny....." Fill in the blank with the most recent make you go hmm moment. I like to talk a lot so I figured that if my husband wasn't here to share this with I'd share it with you instead. I'd probably get a blank stare from the hubbs anyway. Then he'd say: "Nice story." So here we are.

I placed an order for Target's Daily Deal the other day because I needed me a new toothbrush. Below the reviews was a section titled 'Top-rated picks for electric toothbrushes.' I found it rather amusing that the top picks all had below average reviews except for one. It had three stars out of five. I don't believe 60% is anything to write home about either folks. I have decided that people must not read reviews if these items are the top picks.

I am a crazy review reader. I don't buy anything without first consulting the reviews. It is time consuming and I wish I wasn't like this. I guess the only good to come from this is that I don't make impulse purchases.

My next question is for Target. Who decides your top-rated picks? Obviously the Up & Up Replacement Heads received MANY poor reviews. I always wonder if top-rated picks and the like on other websites are completely and purely randomly generated. This makes me go hmm.

UPDATE: Walgreens stores are very independent. As in so independent that a store less than ten miles away will have the same seeds on clearance for $0.25. So keep your eyes peeled and don't be afraid to shop around :) Don't forget to check back often. Prices will always go down down down. They want to move the clearance items to make room for the new stock.

Yay! It's that time of year. Seed clearance. Oh boy oh boy oh boy. I tend to go overboard at this time of year pretending that next season I will have someone to swap seeds with. Um yeh. And I'm going to run away with Brad Pitt. And not Legends of the Fall Brad Pitt, but Meet Joe Black Brad Pitt :) Does this post have a point? Sure does: Check your local Walgreens for packets of seeds on clearance for $0.05. I found them in the clearance aisle. Everything from Cherry Tomatoes, Beefsteak Tomatoes, Cukes, Cosmos, Zinnias, Sunflower, Cabbage, Basil, Wildflower Mix, Morning Glory, to Cilantro and much more.

*I want to mention that just because the packet says packaged for 2012 doesn't mean they won't sprout next year.  I use old seeds every year. Only this year did my 5 year old Marigold seeds stick their noses up at me. So be it.

Cheap diapers at Babies/Toys R Us!

If you like those cute little jean diapers do I have a sale for you! Head on over to the Babies/Toys R Us website and check out the store brand Baby Blues Diapers. They have the big boxes on sale for $9.98. That breaks down to about 10 cents a diaper. That's a stock up price in my book. This price is for the size 3 and will go up with larger sizes. If you really stock up and spend $75 you qualify for free shipping or you can order online and pick them up in store for free. I haven't tried these so I can't say if they are a quality diaper. I'm pretty picky when it comes to my kid's diapers. I tried Walmart's brand a few years ago and didn't care for them. I LOVE Walgreens store brand. I also pretty much like Aldi's store brand. And they are the best price by far. Let me know if you are already a fan of these Baby Blues diapers or not so much a fan. I'd like to hear your take.

Hearthsong is having a big sale! I love their play things for my children. Everything doesn't need to be plugged in or require batteries to be fun. Tell that to the 12 year old who wants a new cell phone for her birthday. And she already has one. She just wants to upgrade. Ahhh! I digress. Save even more by using Shop At Home. I totally have me eye on a Hugglepod. That bad boy can hold up to 175 lbs!!  Too bad that isn't 50% off. A girl can wish....

Look what I found at Shopko!

I was at a summer shindig and spotted the deviled eggs. I mean who doesn't? But it wasn't the eggs I was ooing over. It was these cute little holders. They were these gorge purple holders similar to the one pictured above. Full of deviled eggs cut in half in a whole new way! Not the old school long way, but a new and updated short way. 

I totally spaced and forgot to ask my friend where she got them. I figured I could find them easy peasy on the internet. Um no. I didn't know what they were called. When you get to the store sites you can't really type in the search box deviled-egg-holders-that-look-like-egg-cartons.  I had a harder time finding this than I thought.  I searched every store known to man. It so didn't help that I had no idea what they were called.

Finally found them at Kohl's for around $20. WHAT?! Check out the little guys up there that I found at Shopko for half that price. They are on clearance right now for $3.99 each. That comes out to half price of the big brand name ones at Kohl's. No pretty purple color, but these will do. Go check out your local Shopko to see if they have these. Clearance may be regional and vary at your store. Please share your favorite deviled egg recipe. I have been on the look out for a southwest recipe. Yum!
