Seasonal Sunday: Being Thankful.

It is that time of year where if you don't think about it often enough, it is a good time to reflect on what you are thankful for. I think Thanksgiving has become more about who made the stuffing and will I like it or not than being appreciative and thankful.

I think we take so many things for granted. I even find myself thinking I deserve or expect certain things because I am so used to having them. How quickly we forget there are people in other countries that would give anything to be able to vote like we do. Or freely express their religious beliefs.  It is not just other countries, but people in our own neighborhood. There are homeless kids in school. Bullies.  Jobless friends and family members. I could go on and on.

Let us give thanks. I try to do this daily. It might be when I tuck my kids in bed. It might be at dinner when we say prayers. When I am missing my mom I am thankful for my health. There are so many things I am thankful for on a daily basis. I try to take a moment to just say thanks to the higher powers that be. I also try to thank the people that help make the things in my life happen. I bet your mail carriers or garbage collectors don't get much praise.

So if you have a moment during the upcoming holiday, say thanks to whoever makes your life even just a little bit better. Maybe it will be a silent thank you while you pray. Or maybe you will include a hug along with your thanks. Whatever route you go it will be appreciated. Happy holidays.

Great post. Sometimes we just get so busy and we forget to be thankful for everything and everyone we have in our lives.
